MISSION: Give Texas
One of Evelyn Sames' first initiatives when joining the Sames Team was the grass-roots donation drive launched in Laredo TX. In its 18th year, Mission: Give Laredo has grown to be the city's largest donation drive raising millions to benefit those in need.
One of the organizations that benefit from this mission is Bethany House of Laredo. It is a local non-profit founded by Father Charles McNaboe with the mission “to feed the hungry and shelter the homeless.” Since 1982, the agency has served the indigent as well as individuals and families facing homelessness or at-risk of becoming homeless. Drive Sames 4 Education
Launched in 2013, Sames Drive 4 Education and Kia in the Klassroom promote perfect attendance for students. Each year students with perfect attendance have a chance to win a brand new vehicle courtesy of Sames Motor Company. To date, the program has given away 24 vehicles to deserving students in South and Central Texas.
Sames Scholars
The Sames Scholars Program is a college-bound mentorship program that pairs high school students with TAMIU faculty mentors throughout their high school experience. Upon high school graduation, it offers students a four-year scholarship to TAMIU including tuition, books and fees.
The Sames Scholars program, founded in 2002, pairs United Independent School District high school students with TAMIU faculty.
Jeans4ACause
We are proud of our employees who developed this initiative! Each Friday, employees donate $2 for local charities and to show their commitment and unity to help their community, they all get to wear jeans to work! This initiative has already donated tens of thousands to charities in need!
